Stonewall Preserve is The Center for Discovery’s new 300 acre livestock and crop production farm. Formerly Pennroyl Farm operated as a dairy farm by six generations of the Mitteer family (who reputedly received it from General Lafayette after the Revolutionary War), the farm had been abandoned to agriculture since 1986 and threatened by housing development in the area when The Center purchased it in 2001.
We are rebuilding and reviving this historic farm to serve as the heart of The Center’s food production efforts, as a home for a variety of livestock, as well as a meaningful work environment for adults with autism; and as an environmental education and training facility for new ideas and practices in sustainable agriculture.
